Overview of safe use of pesticides for Handlers and Management.

Topics include: Labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) policy, spill cleanup, first aid & emergencies, laws & regulations (medical supervision, restricted use, safety rules, heat illness), mixing & loading, storage, moving, & disposal, PPE, routes of exposure, calibrating & spraying. This course covers UC policy on Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and DPR requirements (3 CCR 6724, 3 CCR 6764).

Topics also include: Roles & responsibilities, IPM principles, planning, inspections, programs (EH&S, Occupational Health Programs, IPM Program), training, emergency response, fieldworker safety, certifications & licenses, records & reports, and Pesticide Use Authorization (PUA) software.

  • Fees: There is no registration fee for this course for UC staff. However, travel costs and meals outside this training are the responsibility of the home department.
